What will i learn?
  • The course consists of 4 Units (please, see course content for more info) and 5 tutor-marked assessments. You will receive feedback from your tutor after each submission, usually within 3 days.
  • Speaking lesson with ESOL Tutor (if you choose not to attend the lesson, speaking with not be included in your certificate)
  • Upon successful completion of this course each student will be awarded a Certificate of completion which will reflect the marks achieved. Certificates are posted free of charge to UK addresses only. In order to successfully complete this course students must achieve a PASS for each Unit.

Requirements
  • Have access to a PC and fast internet connection in order to complete this course. System requirements: Windows 7, 8, 10. Updated Browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera. Accessibility: Desktop, tablet and mobile views are available.
  • Be IT literate, i.e. access, browse and navigate through the learning platform, create,edit, submit documents and voice recordings, play/download audios/videos, use email and skype etc.
  • Be 16+ years of age.
  • Commit to a learning/assessment schedule in order to complete your course successfully. Estimated study time per week is around 6-8 hours, including tests, assignments and tutorials. Note that this is only an estimation, the actual study time will depend on the individual.

Description

Method of Study: This is an online self-study English course which benefits from Tutor Support. Regular tutor feedback is provided at the end of each Unit to increase students' awareness of their academic strengths and weaknesses.

The learning materials for this online course cover ESOL Level 1-2;B2-C1/CEFR. (scores from 60%- 84%= Level 1/B2); (scores from 85% and above= Level 2/C1)

Course Duration:  approximately 100 GLH. The course must be completed within 12 weeks. Extensions may be applied under the special circumstances rule (see T&C).

24 hours/7 days a week access to the learning platform

Start date: any time 

Course content:

1. Initial assessment and outline of  learner's objectives.

All four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) are practiced using everyday topics and situations.

Type of materials used: Word document work sheets, PDFs, Audios, Videos, Online quizzes, Interactive activities, View sample learning materials

2. Unit 1: Reading, reading techniques and lexical resource

3. Unit 2: Writing- Construct arguments, write various academic texts and carry out research

4. Unit 3: Develop further understanding of the English Grammar 

5. Unit 4: Communicate effectively, use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.

6. Review and final assessment.

This course is suitable for candidates with a good knowledge (current B1 Users) of the English language who wish to further enhance their communication skills and prepare for the ESOL level 1 test, further or higher education in English or pursue employment opportunities with English or in the UK. Additionally, this course could prepare you for an Advanced English exam with the British council or Cambridge English language assessment (FCE/CAE). Options are discussed prior to booking the course.

The overall aim of the course is to help you perfect your English. This means that you will be equipped to deal with academic and professional tasks in English. Upon completion of this course you should be able to: 

  • follow an academic course at undergraduate level
  • communicate effectively at a professional level
  • participate with confidence in workplace meetings or academic tutorials and seminars
  • carry out purposeful research
